In Wings of Desire, the angel Damiel observes the countless lives of Berlin’s people: a famous actor anxious about filming, a young man heartbroken by love and his worried father, a woman troubled by her paycheck, and a middle-aged man worn down by questions of human existence. At times, he remains at a distance as a detached observer; at others, he offers small gestures of comfort, quietly listening in on the sorrowful stories each person carries.
Seoul, too, is no different—a city of fierce survival, filled with people who cannot fully belong to any group and who come to see themselves as “strangers.”

영화 “베를린 천사의 시(Wings Of Desir)” 속 천사 다미엘은 촬영을 걱정하는 유명 배우부터 사랑에 아파하는 청년과 그를 걱정하는 아버지, 월급을 걱정하는 여인 그리고 인간 실존 문제에 고달파하는 중년 남성까지, 베를린의 천태만상 인간 군상을 관찰하는 존재다.
때로는 철저한 관찰자로 멀찍이 떨어져, 때로는 작은 위로를 건내며 인간 각자의 애달픈 사연을 엿듣는다.
치열한 생존의 도시 서울 역시 사정은 다르지 않다. 어느 부류에도 섞이지 못하고 스스로를 ‘이방인’이라 느끼는 사람들로 가득하기만 한데…
