Air of intimacy 친밀함의 공기

What takes place around me while I sleep? I took a nap in Berlin’s Tiergarten to witness what unfolds in the background—the passersby, the movement of the trees, the sound of shadows. A sleeping body in public space can unexpectedly generate a private atmosphere. As I fall asleep in order to observe these background events, my body in turn becomes a fleeting intimate scene for others. This intimacy does not stem from any real relation, but emerges momentarily through the gaze directed at a sleeping stranger—an air of intimacy.
내가 잠든 동안 내 주변에서는 어떤 일이 일어날까? 나는 지나가는 사람들, 나무의 움직임, 그림자의 소리처럼 배경에서 벌어지는 일들을 보기 위해 베를린의 티어가르텐에서 낮잠을 잤다. 내가 이러한 배경의 사건들을 관찰하기 위해 잠들 때, 동시에 나의 몸은 취약해지고, 타인의 시선 속에서 잠시 동안 내밀한 장면이 된다. 그렇게 공적인 공간에서 잠든 몸은 뜻밖에도 사적인 분위기를 만들어낸다. 이러한 친밀함은 실제 관계에서 비롯되는 것이 아니라, 잠든 낯선 이를 향한 시선을 통해 순간적으로 생겨나는 어떤 친밀함의 기운이다.
